RCEF — History of Success

2013 Partnered with Rotary Clubs of Redwood City to combine OktobeRun with an OktoberFest party for a day-long community event to support our students.

2012 Added new staff positions to support strategic plan with goal of doubling revenues by 2015.

2011 OktobeRun 1/2 Marathon and 5k Run joins ParadeRun as RCEF fund raising events with appeal for the whole Peninsula. Runs raise a total of more than $50,000 for our kids.

2010 Save Our School Music campaign raises more than $87,000 to help preserve instrumental music education for 6th through 8th graders.

2009 Summer Math Institute initiated to prepare in-coming middle school students for success in Algebra 1 in 8th grade.

2008 SMART grants are launched to bring innovation in science, math, the arts, literacy, and technology instruction into the classroom.

2005 Emergency fundraising campaign to restore key district programs raises more than $100,000. RCEF begins funding wellness programs.

1997 RESCUE renamed as Redwood City Education Foundation

1996 Music for Learning for grades 2-4 is funded and district instrumental music program supported.

1996 Innovative Teaching Mini-grant program is introduced.

1992 Outdoor Education program is saved and supported through district-wide T-Shirt sales. RCEF continues support to present.

1985-1991 Funrichment, after-school enrichment classes, are funded for a total of 64 classes and 1,000 participants

1983 RESCUE (Redwood City Elementary Schools United Effort) is formed to focus on libraries, computers, and classroom enrichment.
